Wall Insulation Retrofit

Century homes downtown were often built with balloon framing and little to no wall insulation at all — a real gap between the exterior siding and interior plaster with nothing but air in between. Dense-pack cellulose can be blown into these cavities through small access holes drilled from outside or inside, then patched, without opening up the walls.

Before insulating older walls, it's worth checking for knob-and-tube wiring, which some insulation types and building codes treat differently — your operator will flag this during the assessment if it applies to your home.
